Opportunity At Every Corner
Founded as a free summer youth reading enrichment program by local church volunteers, Corners Outreach has grown into a professional nonprofit working to combat generational cycles of poverty in historically underserved populations in metro Atlanta, particularly families of color in Gwinnett and DeKalb Counties. Corners believes that changing families and communities starts by focusing on one primary outcome: an individual’s self-sufficiency.
Through its three signature programs—Corners Academy tutoring and learning programs for K-12 students, the purpose-driven Corners Industries staffing enterprise, and a new Workforce Academy for young adults entering the workforce—Corners guides entire families toward opportunities for an education, a career, and a life beyond what they believed possible.

In 2021, as the organization considered acquiring and renovating a building to meet its current and future needs, Corners’ leadership engaged Coxe Curry for preparatory consulting and a feasibility study. Armed with the results of this pre-campaign work, Corners kicked off its pilot Workforce Academy cohort, grew its relationships with local school systems, kept searching for the right property, and quietly conducted a board and “friends and family” campaign.
We then launched the $11.2 million At Every Corner campaign in late 2022, which Corners completed the following year. Through our work together, we introduced Corners to New Markets Tax Credits, helped them build relationships with new institutional donors (some of whom made seven-figure first-time gifts), and applauded their board and staff for their unwavering leadership that led to multiple major gifts from new and returning donors.
