Atlanta Beltline Partnership

Creating and Closing the Loop

Few projects or places have come to define modern Atlanta quite like the Atlanta Beltline. It’s the most comprehensive transportation and economic development effort ever undertaken in the city and among the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs underway in the United States. The Beltline will ultimately connect 45 intown neighborhoods, residents, and visitors along a 22-mile loop of multi-use trails, parks, affordable housing, and much more—all along repurposed railroad corridors that formerly circled Atlanta.

We’ve been proud to work with the Atlanta Beltline Partnership, Atlanta Beltline, Inc., and their many partners from the Beltline’s beginning as an ambitious, visionary idea. As the nonprofit organization raising philanthropic funding and delivering donor-supported programming for the Atlanta Beltline, the Atlanta Beltline Partnership has collaborated with Coxe Curry on multiple engagements over the years. We have conducted campaign planning studies and pre-campaign consultations, directed and managed their campaigns, and consulted on annual fundraising efforts. When needed, we have also placed Interim Solution associates with the Partnership to manage grants and day-to-day development projects.

Coxe Curry has been instrumental in helping make the Atlanta Beltline a funding priority with our philanthropic partners. Their strategic counsel, relationship navigation, and extensive campaign support have enabled us to secure more than $220 million in philanthropic investments that have ensured the Beltline’s 22-mile mainline trail will be completed by 2030.
— Rob Brawner, Executive Director

Staying the course has required plenty of steadfastness—but also creative, responsive approaches. In the early years, community support for the Beltline was invested project by project. Now that Atlanta has fully embraced the Beltline, we’ve refocused on strategies to secure historic investments to accelerate implementation and “advance the vision” of an equitable, inclusive, sustainable Atlanta where people can live healthier lives, access new economic opportunities, and experience our diverse, vibrant culture.

We celebrated with the Atlanta Beltline Partnership when they received historic gifts of $80 million from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation in 2021 and $30 million from the James M. Cox Foundation in 2022—two critical gifts toward the Beltline’s efforts to complete the full 22-mile corridor by 2030.
