Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School

Their Time to Shine

Borrowing a phrase from the school hymn, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School strives to "inspire each mind and fire each heart” in its learning community. One of the nation's largest Episcopal schools, it enrolls nearly 1,400 students in grades PK3-12.

Beginning in 2018, we worked with Holy Innocents’ to lead the campaign planning study and execute the $32.5 million Our Time campaign—the largest campaign in the school’s history—to build a new Upper School Humanities Building, new Lower School Building, and increase campus safety and security.

The school already benefitted from a strong development team, and Coxe Curry brought our wide range of experience to the table to create a tailor-made framework that combined Holy Innocents’ successful processes and signature style with fundraising best practices.

Launching a large campaign can be daunting, but Coxe Curry kept us organized and on task. They have such great knowledge of fundraising in general, and it was so helpful to lean on them for advice and expertise. We finished our campaign ahead of goal. I believe we were able to accomplish this because of the Coxe Curry team.
— Michele Duncan, Director of Institutional Advancement, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School

Successfully reaching the goal of a capital campaign that was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic was no small feat, but our partnership paved the way.

Coxe Curry hosted workshops during the board’s annual retreat to prepare new trustees for the work ahead; we trained campaign volunteers on the ins and outs of their roles; we helped implement a robust board campaign; we leveraged wealth screening data and predictive analytics to inform solicitation strategies; and we helped manage the complimentary goals of the annual fund and campaign. On the operations side, we used our experience in database management to consult on process refinement to maintain giving data and produce accurate, compelling campaign reports.

As an adviser and extension of the Holy Innocents’ team, we offered optimism, kept volunteers engaged, and rebuilt momentum after a pandemic pause. And in 2022, we celebrated victory at the ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony in honor of this campus transformation.
